In mid-November, 2007, Pediatric Cardiology Associates (PCA) joined
Pediatrix Medical Group. This was prompted because of our increasing
patient demands and
the need to facilitate the addition of clinical and
administrative infrastructure. Pediatrix is the country's largest provider of
pediatric cardiology services, with
nearly 100 providing care in 13
metropolitan communities including Denver, Phoenix and, now, Albuquerque.
PCA continues to be New Mexico's comprehensive provider of pediatric
cardiac services to infants, children and young adults. Our physicians have
been serving New Mexico since 1976 and are the only local providers of
infant and pediatric
cardiac surgical procedures and therapeutic
catheterization, including ASD, patent foramen ovale & PDA closure and
vascular stenting. We also provide a comprehensive arrhythmia and
pacemaker service including catheter ablation and ICD implantation. PCA
operates a comprehensive community-based outreach clinic system, allowing
children to be followed in one of 8 communities outside Albuquerque. PCA is
affiliated with
Presbyterian Hospital, the largest critical care hospital in New
Mexico and the hospital most preferred for overall quality and patient
satisfaction for the last 9 years. It is home to the
Presbyterian Heart Center
and the
Presbyterian Children's Medical Center, New Mexico's fastest
growing facility for medical and surgical pediatric care.
INTERVENTIONAL CATHETERIZATION
PCA and Presbyterian Hospital provide comprehensive pediatric cardiac
i
nterventional services. Read about the program and our 2007 results. To
insure the highest quality and best outcomes, the
American Heart
Association
, the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiac
Angiography and Interventions (SCAI)
have stated that interventional
procedures in infants and children should be performed
only at facilities
where pediatric cardiology surgical back-up is immediately available. At
Presbyterian Hospital, we meet or exceed all published guidelines for a
pediatric catheter-based interventional program.
