Dr. Berman has practiced pediatric cardiology in New Mexico since 1978. He is a past secretary-treasurer of the Society for Pediatric Research (SPR). He initiated therapeutic cardiac catheterization techniques in New Mexico in 1984. Because of this initiative, PCA is the leading provider of these services, having performed well over 150 PDA coil occlusions, over 200 ASD and patent foramen closures and literally hundreds of valve dilitations, thereby obviating the need for cardiac surgery in many children. Dr. Berman has authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed articles, books and book chapters. He is a member of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Physiologic Society.
Dr. Holmes joined Pediatric Cardiology Associates in December, 2002. He is well- known to pediatricians and other primary care physicians throughout New Mexico, having served as a pediatric cardiologist at UNM since 1994. During his 8 years at UNM, he served in a variety of capacities including: Director of Clinical Outreach, Director of Pediatric Echocardiography, Director of Fetal Cardiology, and, most recently, Director of the Children’s Hospital Heart Center and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Jerry adds greater depth to PCA by providing expertise and experience in non-invasive cardiac diagnosis (including fetal and transesophageal echocardiography) and clinical outreach.
Dr. Raisher joined PCA in 1996. Previously, he was a faculty member at the State University of New York in Stony Brook. His areas of expertise include therapeutic catheterization and echocardiography. He has played a role in helping our practice become the leading New Mexico provider of catheterization techniques for closing PDAs and ASDs, and was the first pediatric cardiologist in New Mexico to place stents to non-surgically repair narrowed pulmonary arteries. Dr. Raisher has been instrumental to the success PCA has achieved in the field of catheter-based therapy.
Dr. Yabek was the first of the state's pediatric cardiologists to begin practicing in New Mexico. He was instrumental in establishing the state-wide outreach clinic system that PCA continues to administer. He has extensive experience in treating pediatric arrhythmias and pediatric patients with pacemakers. He has authored nearly 90 peer-reviewed journal articles, books and book chapters, mostly related to arrhythmia diagnosis and management in children, and has been invited to speak at many national and international medical meetings. Dr. Yabek is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, Heart Rhythm Society, American Heart Association, Western Societies of Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Research and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and American College of Cardiology (FACC). He is Medical Director of Pediatrix Cardiology Associates of New Mexico.
